More than a year after Clément Besneville disappeared in Rabat, the uncertainty and anxiety remain. The 29-year-old Frenchman has not been heard from since April 10, 2024. His father, Didier Besneville, is desperate for answers. «I’m looking for my son. I want to find my son. And I feel like no one cares», he told AFP, adding that he has even written letters to President Emmanuel Macron and King Mohammed VI.

Having moved to Morocco early in 2024, Clément planned to open a pizzeria in Rabat. He vanished just five days before signing the lease. His belongings, documents, phone, computer, money, and glasses, were all found untouched in his apartment.
The disappearance was reported in France to the gendarmerie in Cély-en-Bière, then passed on to Moroccan authorities. An investigation was opened in Rabat but transferred in July 2024 to the National Brigade of Judicial Police (BNPJ) in Casablanca. According to Didier, the BNPJ recently reassured him the investigation is ongoing, though progress appears slow.
In March, a kidnapping and unlawful detention complaint was filed in France. The Melun prosecutor’s office sent the case details to Moroccan authorities as part of a request for judicial assistance.
Didier has also contacted Antred, an association supporting families of missing persons abroad. He hopes this will prompt renewed efforts from the authorities, so his son’s case does not fade into oblivion.
