Morocco’s national carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) announced on Tuesday via X (formerly Twitter) that its flight AT732 from Casablanca to Marseille has been temporarily suspended due to wildfires near Marseille Airport.
According to RAM, runway operations are expected to resume after 18:00 UTC.
Wildfires in southern France, which have already spread across more than 700 hectares, forced the midday closure of Marseille Provence Airport, the country’s fourth-largest airport in terms of passenger traffic, located north of the city.
Later that day, at around 19:30 GMT, limited air traffic resumed, but local authorities warned the airport may face further closures on Wednesday to allow for additional airborne firefighting operations, AFP reported.
