Interpol red notice leads to arrest of Moroccan fugitive on Malaga-Melilla ferry

On Saturday, police in Spain apprehended a Moroccan citizen aboard a ferry en route from Malaga to Melilla. The arrest came after it was discovered that the individual was on Interpol's international wanted list, following an arrest warrant issued by Moroccan authorities.

Police in Melilla reported that the passenger aroused suspicion among security personnel due to his attempts to evade identity checks. Upon implementing necessary security protocols, it was confirmed that the suspect is of Moroccan nationality and has been the subject of an international arrest warrant by Morocco since July 3, 2025.

Once the «red notice» from Interpol was validated, the individual was detained in accordance with legal procedures. He was informed of his rights and the grounds for his arrest.
