In the United States, FBI agents conducted a search of John Bolton's residence on Friday, August 22, as part of a «national security investigation seeking classified documents».
An official from the federal investigation informed an American media outlet, stating, «The FBI is carrying out court-authorized activities in the area. There is no threat to public safety».
John Bolton, who served as a security advisor to Donald Trump during his first term, has recently voiced criticism over the «concessions» made by the current U.S. President to Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
Bolton is also recognized for his stance supporting the Polisario. He was among the first senior American officials to denounce Trump's decision on December 10, 2020, to acknowledge Morocco's sovereignty over the Sahara.
In January, Donald Trump ended the services of the secret service team assigned to protect John Bolton. The relationship between the two has been notably strained, particularly after Trump dismissed Bolton from his role as U.S. security advisor in September 2019.
It's worth recalling that FBI agents searched Donald Trump's residence in August 2022 as part of an investigation into the «search for classified documents». Investigators suspected the Republican billionaire of breaching an American espionage law related to the possession of confidential documents concerning U.S. security.
