Algeria’s national team captain, Riyad Mahrez, has set a clear target for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco: «Our goal is to reach the final».
In an interview with Canal Plus Africa, Mahrez acknowledged the challenge ahead: «It might seem a bit exaggerated when you consider what we’ve done in the last two editions. But with the team we have, we will do our utmost to reach the final. The conditions will be favorable, the stadiums will be good, and there will be no excuses».
He stressed, however, that entering the tournament as one of the favorites «means nothing», adding: «This time, Morocco is the favorite. They will be playing on their home soil and will be under pressure».
Morocco will host the competition for the first time in its history from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, with matches played across nine stadiums.
