Achraf Hakimi misses out on the Ballon d’Or, finishes 6th

Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi (Paris Saint-Germain) missed out on the Ballon d’Or but finished 6th in the 2025 ranking announced Monday. The award went to his PSG teammate Ousmane Dembélé; Hakimi congratulated him on Instagram, writing «well deserved».

The top ten also featured Lamine Yamal (FC Barcelona) in second place, along with Vitinha (Paris Saint-Germain), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool FC), Raphinha (FC Barcelona), and Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid CF), who ranked just below Hakimi.

Hakimi’s season more than justified a top-six finish: he lifted the UEFA Champions League, Ligue 1, Coupe de France, and Trophée des Champions with PSG; won Olympic bronze with Morocco; made the Team of the Season in both the Champions League and Ligue 1; and scored in the Champions League quarter-final, semi-final, and final, as well as the Coupe de France final.
