Journalist and writer Saïd Jedidi passed away on Saturday evening, his family confirmed to Le360. A pioneer of Spanish-language media in Morocco, he left a lasting mark on generations of listeners and viewers, particularly through his key role in Spanish-language television news.
Born in Tetouan in 1947, Saïd Jedidi pursued higher education in England and Spain before returning to Morocco to join the Spanish-language section of Moroccan Radio and Television (RTM). He rose through the ranks to become editor-in-chief and later department head, notably covering the Green March in Spanish. His career also included collaborations with international outlets such as Spain’s El País, Televisa-Galavisión, and Inforred in Mexico.
After retiring from the screen, he founded the publications L'Opinion Semanal and La Mañana. He later managed the blog Con Acento Marroquí and directed the Spanish-language news site Info Marruecos. As an author, he published several works of literature, including Yamna and Grito primae.
A respected lecturer, Jedidi was invited to speak at universities in Morocco and abroad. His career and contributions were also recognized by Spain, which awarded him the Order of Merit.
