The Public Prosecutor at the Casablanca Court of First Instance announced the arrest of an individual following unauthorized sit-ins held in several Moroccan cities on September 28, 2025.
According to the statement, police investigations concluded that the suspect «managed several social media accounts where he allegedly posted photos and videos of protests abroad, presenting them as if they had taken place in Morocco, in order to incite people to take to the streets on September 27 and 28».
Authorities say the suspect’s main goal was not to encourage demonstrations, but to gain followers and generate revenue. He reportedly amassed 4,000 followers in three days, aiming to reach 20,000 to launch a digital platform.
An examination of his personal computer allegedly revealed video clips of past and recent protests abroad that he had edited and republished to boost views and subscriptions.
The individual has been placed in custody and referred to the prosecutor, who decided to prosecute him for alleged incitement to commit crimes.
