The Prosecutor at the Court of Appeal in Marrakech has dismissed as «completely unfounded» the allegations circulated by certain media outlets, citing a statement from the Moroccan Association for Human Rights (AMDH – Marrakech-Menara section), which claimed that a citizen had died during the events in the Sidi Youssef Ben Ali neighborhood.
In a statement, the prosecutor clarified that no deaths were recorded during the unrest in this neighborhood, noting that the incident referred to by the Marrakech-Menara branch of the AMDH, published on the website Almarrakchi.com, was unrelated to these events.
According to the same source, the prosecution explained that the individual mentioned was a street vendor on Msalla Street, who suffered a sudden illness on October 1, 2025, and collapsed near his stall by the Koutoubia store, far from the protest site.
He was immediately transported to Charifa Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival, the statement added.
After being heard by the judicial police and the prosecutor’s office, the deceased’s father stated that he had no doubts regarding the circumstances of his son’s death. Following the examination of the body, it was released to the family for burial.
