Morocco’s blueberry exports to Canada skyrocket in three seasons

Moroccan blueberry exports to Canada have taken off, reaching 1,900 tons worth over $19 million between July 2024 and June 2025, EastFruit reported.

This represents nearly double the volume recorded last season and a 17-fold increase compared to three seasons ago, with an average annual growth rate of 160%.

While Morocco first exported blueberries to Canada in 2008, regular shipments only resumed in the 2021/22 season, making Canada a relatively new but fast-growing market. Morocco’s market share has climbed sharply from 0.16% in 2021/22 to 2.3% in 2024/25, putting it in competition with established suppliers such as Mexico and Chile.

Morocco’s exports typically run from December to June, peaking in April and May, just after Peru’s season ends and before U.S. supply (another major source of Canada’s blueberries) reaches its peak.
