Security forces at Casablanca's Mohammed V International Airport detained a 34-year-old Russian national on Saturday. The individual is wanted under an international arrest warrant issued by Russian judicial authorities for terrorism-related charges.
The arrest took place as the suspect arrived on a flight from Mauritania, according to a security source. A check against Interpol's database confirmed that he was internationally sought by the Moscow National Central Bureau to serve a prison sentence imposed by the Russian judiciary for alleged involvement with a terrorist organization.
The suspect is currently in custody as part of the extradition process, following directives from the competent public prosecutor's office. Meanwhile, the Interpol-Rabat National Central Bureau, operating under the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), has been tasked with informing its Russian counterpart about the arrest.
