In a vibrant and supportive atmosphere, the Royal Urban Club of Padel in Marrakech was abuzz with excitement on Sunday as it hosted an all-women's tournament in honor of Pink October, a month dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer screening.
Bringing together players from across Morocco, the event was a blend of athletic prowess, camaraderie, and civic engagement. On the courts, matches were dynamic, sometimes fiercely competitive, but always marked by fair play and goodwill.
Amidst bursts of laughter, shouts of encouragement, and rounds of applause, the collective energy reflected the participants' determination to champion the message of prevention through sports. In a statement to MAP, tournament organizer Halima El Mernissi noted that the event aimed to create a space where women could thrive in sports while contributing to a universal cause.
«Padel, a young and accessible sport, brings together all generations around a common goal: to remind everyone that women's health must remain a priority», she stated. She emphasized that the day was not just about competition, but a celebration of life, courage, and female solidarity.
Moroccan player Souad Hadouti expressed her honor in participating in this initiative, affirming that each point scored was special, «because it carried a message of hope».
«When sport takes a stand for a cause, it becomes a force that transcends the boundaries of the court», she observed, paying tribute to all those who fight with dignity against the disease every day.
