King Mohammed VI declares October 31 as Aïd Al Wahda, National Unity Day
DR

In a statement issued by the Royal Cabinet on Monday, King Mohammed VI announced the establishment of October 31st as «Aïd Al Wahda,» or National Unity Day. From this year forward, this date will be recognized as a national holiday, highlighted by the granting of royal pardons.

The statement explains that this decision arises «in light of the historic turning point in the process of the National Cause,» taking into account Security Council Resolution 2797/2025, which was commended in the recent royal address to the nation.

By designating this new holiday as «Aïd Al Wahda,» the King seeks to create a powerful symbol of dedication to the Kingdom's unity and steadfast territorial integrity. The day is envisioned as a moment of unity, reinforcing the values of national cohesion and allegiance to the country's sacred principles.

The statement further notes that starting this year, the royal speech will be delivered on two official occasions: the Feast of the Throne and the opening of Parliament. Nonetheless, the King retains the discretion to address the nation at any other time he considers appropriate, in his role as Amir Al-Mouminine and Head of State.

Lastly, the planned celebrations for the fiftieth anniversary of the Green March will proceed as scheduled, although no royal speech will be delivered during this event, the statement clarifies.
