Winners of the 23rd National Grand Prize for Press announced in Rabat

The jury of the 23rd National Grand Prize for Press announced the winners of its various categories on Monday evening in Rabat, during a ceremony attended by the Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, the President of the Constitutional Court, Mohamed Amine Benabdellah, and several figures from the cultural and media spheres.

The honorary award, which celebrates media personalities who have significantly contributed to the evolution of Morocco’s press landscape, was granted jointly to Naïm Kamal, journalist and publication director of quid.ma, and the late Saïd El Jadidi, former journalist with SNRT’s Spanish desk.

The honorary prize for Moroccan journalists working in foreign media went to Jawad Badda of beIN Sports and Fatima Zahra Bouaziz, correspondent for the Spanish news agency EFE.

In the television category, Abdellah Jaafari (Medi1 TV) won for his report on the Mohammed VI Football Academy, alongside Younes El Bdiwi (SNRT’s Cultural Channel) for his piece on scientific Waqf in Morocco.

The radio award went jointly to Nabila Qamimi (Alidaa Alwatania) for her report on the Green March and Mounia Arshi for her work on proposals to reform the Family Code.

In print journalism, Nabila Bakas (Le Matin) was distinguished for her article Public hospitals… when security agents dictate their law. The electronic press prize was awarded to Khadija Alimoussa (TelQuel Arabi) for her investigation into child enrollment in Tindouf.

The agency press category honored Mohamed Haddadi for The rosary, the undisputed star of gifts offered by pilgrims. The investigative journalism prize went to 2M journalists Asma Aïnoun and Zakaria Dhalfi for their episode of Moukhtafoun on the Marouane Al-Mokaddem case.

The Amazigh journalistic production prize was shared by Ibrahim Ishwi (Amazigh Radio) for a report on Tada and Fadwa Amghar for her work on mussel harvesting in Tiznit. The Sahrawi Hassani culture prize was awarded to Cheikh Maâ El-Ainine (Radio Laâyoune) for his report on the Tiznit–Dakhla highway, and Ghali Karhi (Laâyoune Channel) for a feature on horses in Oued-Noun.

The regional press prize went to Hafedh Malain (Laâyoune Now) for The Glorious Green March, half a century of loyalty. The photography prize was awarded to Abdelmajid Bziouat (L’Économiste) for M’hamid El Ghizlane… temple of nomadic heritage. The caricature prize was not awarded.

Several media figures were also honored, including Leïla Maâ El Ainine, Mohamed Dakka, Mohamed Seddik Maaninou, and sports journalist Lino Bako.

Jury president Fatima Zahra Ouriaghli noted the high calibre of the 156 submissions received this year. The jury also included Mohammed Taoufik Ennassiri, Mouhsine Bountaj, Abdellatif Bensfia, Sanae Rahimi, Mohammed Ezzouak, Fatima Anejdam, Adil Alaoui, Mohamed Bourouis, Ahmed Arkam, and Youssef Belhaissi.
