Morocco shines with silver and bronze at Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh

Morocco shone on the track in Riyadh on Tuesday, taking home silver medals in the men's 400m hurdles and the women's 3000m steeplechase at the sixth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games.

In a thrilling race, Moroccan athlete Elmehdi Dimoukrati clinched second place in the 400m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 49.58 seconds. He was narrowly edged out by Turkey's Berke Akcam, who claimed gold with a time of 49.22 seconds. The bronze went to Turkey's Ismail Nezir, who finished in 50.87 seconds.

On the women's side, Ikram Ouaaziz brought home the bronze in the 3000m steeplechase, completing the race in 10 minutes and 00.55 seconds. Bahrain's Winfred Yavi dominated the event, winning gold with a time of 9:40.65, while Turkey's Tugba Guvenc Yenigun secured silver with a time of 9:57.05.

These achievements bring Morocco's medal count to 18, with 8 gold, 3 silver, and 7 bronze, placing the nation in 8th position in the provisional overall standings.
