Morocco shines with three medals at Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh

Morocco celebrated a triumphant day at the 6th edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh on Thursday, clinching two silver medals and one bronze in the athletics events.

In a thrilling 1500 meters race, Moroccan athlete Soukaina Hajji claimed the silver medal with a time of 4:22.77, finishing just behind Bahrain's Nelly Korir, who secured gold with a time of 4:21.56. Fellow Moroccan Bahiya Elarfaoui captured the bronze, crossing the finish line in 4:23.11.

In the 800 meters, Abderrahman El Assal added another silver to Morocco's haul, completing the race in 1:46.23. He was narrowly edged out by Iran's Ali Amirian, who took the gold with a time of 1:46.18. The bronze went to Qatar's Abubaker Abdalla, who finished in 1:46.26.

These impressive performances have boosted Morocco's medal count to 25, comprising 10 gold, 6 silver, and 9 bronze medals, securing them the 9th spot in the provisional overall rankings.
