The 93rd session of the General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) commenced this Monday in Marrakech, drawing together top officials and police chiefs from all 196 member countries.
During the opening ceremony, speeches were delivered by Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, and Major General Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi, President of Interpol.
The event was graced by several prominent figures, including the Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit; Mohamed Abdennabaoui, First President of the Court of Cassation and Deputy President of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary; Hicham Balaoui, Attorney General at the Court of Cassation and head of the Public Prosecution; Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates; Fouzi Lekjaa, Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget; Army General Mohamed Haramou, Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie; Mohamed Yassine Mansouri, Director General of Studies and Documentation; Mohamed Salah Tamek, Delegate General for Prison Administration and Reintegration; Valdecy Urquiza, Secretary General of Interpol; Mohamed Ben Ali Koman, Secretary General of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers; and Abdelmajid Ben Abdallah El Bouniane, President of the Arab Nayef University for Security Sciences.
As the supreme governing body of Interpol, the General Assembly stands as the largest global forum for law enforcement leaders, providing a crucial platform for member countries to build relationships and exchange experiences.
This session will address a range of critical issues, including the identification and dismantling of transnational organized crime networks, shutting down international scam centers, enhancing Interpol’s global police capabilities, and promoting the role of women in policing.
Also on the agenda is the review of the Money Notice pilot project results and the push for the ratification of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime.
Moreover, this 93rd session, set to continue until November 27, will see the election of new members to the Executive Committee, the governing body responsible for steering the organization between sessions, including the election of a new President as current terms come to an end.
