Zakaria El Ouahdi named Belgian Lion 2025 for outstanding performance in Pro League

Moroccan international Zakaria El Ouahdi has been named the Belgian Lion 2025, an award recognizing the best player of Maghreb origin playing in the Belgian Pro League, his club, Racing Genk, announced. The 23-year-old footballer received 40.5% of the votes. His compatriot from Union Saint-Gilloise, Sofiane Boufal, garnered 12.7% of the votes.

Last season, Zakaria El Ouahdi became indispensable at Genk, where he played 40 matches (scoring 8 goals and providing 2 assists). Since the start of the current season, the Moroccan international has played 12 matches (scoring 4 goals and providing 1 assist) but has not played since September due to a shoulder injury.
