The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amine Tahraoui, officially opened the services of the Imintanout Local Hospital on Tuesday, November 25. This inauguration is a key part of the national initiative to upgrade and equip public health facilities, in line with the broader sector reform, as outlined in an official statement. The initiative aims to «support the rollout of the project for universal social protection and health coverage».
Occupying a 50,000-square-meter area with 7,000 square meters of covered space, and built at a cost of 100.5 million dirhams, the hospital offers 45 beds. According to the same source, it will provide essential services to citizens and aims to «reduce regional disparities in healthcare access, bringing these services closer to the local community», thus alleviating the need for long-distance travel to access healthcare.
Regarding human resources, the facility employs «108 health professionals, including 9 doctors (5 of whom are specialists), 84 nurses and health technicians, along with 15 technical and administrative staff». It serves «101,679 residents across 11 communes in the Chichaoua province». The hospital offers a range of services, including «general and specialized medicine, general surgery, gynecology-obstetrics, pediatrics, anesthesia and resuscitation, radiology, social assistance, and nursing care».
The local hospital is expected to «enhance the quality of services provided to the target population by implementing modern organizational methods and mobilizing skilled human resources».
It also aims to «improve the working conditions of health professionals, ensuring effective performance, a motivating work environment, and sustainable improvement in health indicators at the regional level».
