On Wednesday, the Tetouan police, acting on detailed intelligence from the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), apprehended a 26-year-old man with affiliations to the terrorist group ISIS. The suspect was allegedly in the final stages of executing a highly dangerous terrorist plot aimed at severely disrupting public order.
This security operation resulted in the confiscation of a large bladed weapon from the suspect, which he reportedly intended to use to carry out his plans, according to a statement from the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ). The statement highlighted that the individual had drawn attention by sharing content related to ISIS' terrorist activities on media platforms.
Further searches connected to the case led to the discovery of a flag belonging to this terrorist organization at the suspect's home, as confirmed by the same source.
The suspect is now in the custody of the BCIJ and is undergoing further investigation under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor's Office responsible for terrorism-related cases.
