Heavy rains and strong winds forecast across Morocco until Monday

Heavy rains, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms, strong gusts of wind, and snowfall are expected from Saturday to Monday across several provinces in Morocco, announced the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).

According to a red alert bulletin issued by the DGM, heavy rains, sometimes stormy (ranging from 80 to 100 mm), are anticipated from Saturday at 1:00 PM to Sunday at 6:00 PM in the provinces of Inezgane-Ait Melloul, Chtouka-Ait Baha, Agadir Ida-Outanane, Taroudant, and Essaouira.

Similarly, heavy rains, sometimes stormy (30-55 mm), will affect the provinces of Safi, Chichaoua, Sidi Bennour, Khenifra, Youssoufia, Tiznit, Al Haouz, Khouribga, Settat, Azilal, Beni Mellal, and El Jadida from Saturday at 1:00 PM to Sunday at noon.

Rainfall between 20 and 30 mm will be recorded during the same period in the provinces of Rabat, Salé, Khémisset, Nouaceur, Mohammadia, Mediouna, Casablanca, Rehamna, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Marrakech, Berrechid, Fquih Ben Salah, Skhirate-Temara, Benslimane, and Kénitra, according to an orange alert bulletin from the DGM.

The same phenomenon, with rainfall accumulations ranging from 50 to 80 mm, will affect the provinces of Tanger-Assilah, Mdiq-Fnideq, Tétouan, Larache, Fahs-Anjra, Chefchaouen, Taounate, and Al Hoceima from Sunday at 3:00 AM to Monday at noon.

Furthermore, strong gusts of wind ranging from 70 to 85 km/h are expected from Saturday at 1:00 PM to Sunday at noon in the provinces of Sefrou, Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, Fahs-Anjra, Larache, Tanger-Assilah, Tétouan, Ouarzazate, Kénitra, Mdiq-Fnideq, El Hajeb, Ifrane, Rehamna, Youssoufia, Essaouira, Nouaceur, Rabat, Salé, Skhirate-Temara, Benslimane, Berrechid, Safi, Sidi Bennour, Marrakech, Casablanca, Figuig, Chichaoua, El Jadida, Mohammadia, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Settat, Midelt, Jerada, and Mediouna.

Additionally, snowfall at altitudes starting from 2,000 meters (20-50 cm) will affect the provinces of Midelt, Tinghir, Azilal, Ouarzazate, Al Haouz, Taroudant, and Chichaoua from Saturday at 1:00 PM to Monday at 11:00 PM.
