Amid escalating tensions in the Arabian Peninsula over Yemen, Morocco has made its stance clear. «In line with its dedication to fostering stability in the Arab world, Morocco reaffirms its opposition to any actions that could undermine Yemen's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Kingdom supports all initiatives aimed at de-escalating the situation, prioritizing the security and stability of all regional nations», declared the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a communiqué.
«The Kingdom calls on all involved parties to prioritize dialogue as a means to achieve a comprehensive political solution, in accordance with international law, to preserve the unity and sovereignty of the Republic of Yemen and fulfill the aspirations of its people for a dignified life and lasting stability.»
This statement follows Saudi Arabia's appeal to «all southern factions» in Yemen to engage in a «dialogue» in Riyadh. The goal is to resolve the ongoing clashes between separatists and other elements of the government coalition. Riyadh «invites all Southern factions to actively participate in the conference» aimed at finding «just solutions […] that will meet the legitimate aspirations of the Southern people», according to a communiqué from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It is worth noting that the Yemeni separatist movement announced on Friday its commitment to a two-year plan to establish a state in the south, where it has already seized control of significant territories.
