The Abdelmajid Dolmy indoor arena in Aïn Chock was officially opened on Saturday, in a ceremony honoring the legendary Moroccan footballer. The event was graced by local officials, former national football icons, and members of Dolmy's family.

Speaking to MAP during the occasion, Abdellatif Naciri, vice-president of the Casablanca municipal council, highlighted that this new sports complex, developed by the Casablanca municipality in partnership with the Aïn Chock district, is the city's first dedicated indoor sports venue.

Naciri emphasized that naming the arena after the late Abdelmajid Dolmy, a key figure in the 1976 continental victory, underscores his significant sporting and personal legacy. This facility aims to host a variety of sports activities, fostering athletic engagement and guiding local youth.

Former Moroccan international Mustapha El Haddaoui paid homage to Dolmy, describing him as a courageous figure and viewing the arena's naming as a tribute to his enduring legacy.

El Haddaoui further noted that the arena provides a valuable space for the neighborhood's youth and residents to engage in sports and personal growth, expressing pride in associating a national legend's name with the facility.

Meanwhile, former international Sami Tajeddine expressed hope that similar initiatives would spread nationwide, celebrating Moroccan sports icons and inspiring future generations through their stories.

The inauguration featured a gala match with two 20-minute halves, showcasing former Moroccan internationals against past players from Raja Club Athletic and Wydad Athletic Club.
