Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM), Morocco's Central Bank, announced on Monday that, under Decree No. 2.25.966 dated December 23, 2025, several Moroccan banknotes have been withdrawn from circulation starting January 1, 2026.

According to a BAM statement, the withdrawal concerns 10, 50, 100, and 200 dirham banknotes issued in 1987, 10 dirham notes issued in 1990, and 20 dirham notes issued in 1996.

As of January 1, 2026, these banknotes have ceased to be legal tender and no longer carry discharging power.

Holders of the affected notes are invited to exchange them, without any conditions, at Bank Al-Maghrib counters or at bank branches nationwide between January 1, 2026, and December 31, 2030, the statement added.
