One person died on Wednesday morning in the village of Abkair, part of the Tamsaout commune in Al Hoceima province, after landslides struck his home. The incident was caused by heavy rainfall that has affected the region since shortly after midnight.
Mohamed Al Atlati, a municipal councilor in Ketama, said the area was hit by intense rainfall accompanied by strong winds in the early hours of the morning, triggering landslides and partial soil collapses, particularly in areas close to residential zones, according to local media.
He added that several homes in villages across the Ketama district are now at risk of collapse, after their foundations were weakened and significant cracks appeared in walls and ceilings, raising fears that the situation could deteriorate further if the heavy rains persist.
