Sidi Slimane: Social and psychological support for evacuees continue
DR

In response to the recent floods that have hit Sidi Slimane Province and the wider Gharb region, a large-scale relief operation has been launched under the direct supervision of provincial authorities.

In line with royal directives, priority has been given to the most vulnerable groups, with a strong focus on medical, social, and psychological support for evacuated families.

On the medical front, teams from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection have been mobilized to care for pregnant women from remote villages who are currently accommodated in emergency shelter centers.

Social assistance is also in full swing at reception facilities, particularly at Dar Taliba, where more than 160 families are receiving comprehensive support, including access to basic services and ongoing human assistance, Amal Benabdi, head of the provincial communication service in Sidi Slimane, told MAP.

The objective, she said, is to restore a sense of safety and dignity for those affected while reinforcing national solidarity. According to the same source, a total of 1,287 families, representing more than 6,450 people, have been evacuated in Sidi Slimane Province.

Evacuees have been accommodated in dedicated shelter centers, while others have been taken in by relatives. Evacuation operations are still underway in the communes of Ouled H’cine and Ameur Chamalia.

As part of the psychosocial support efforts, a collective baptism ceremony was held at Dar Taliba in Sidi Slimane in honor of newborns and their mothers. The event was presided over by provincial governor Driss Rubio and attended by representatives of civil society.

This mobilization, marked by a strong human dimension, reflects a crisis-management approach rooted in proximity, with the safety and dignity of citizens placed at the forefront.
