Maritime connections between the ports of Tarifa (Cádiz) and Tangier were suspended on Thursday and will remain suspended on Friday due to adverse weather conditions caused by Storm Nils, which is affecting the Strait of Gibraltar, according to the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras.
The first scheduled crossing on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. from Tarifa operated as planned. However, all other sailings for the rest of the day were canceled, the same source confirmed.
Port authorities indicated that the disruptions are expected to continue on Friday at the port of Tarifa, while the port of Algeciras is maintaining all its scheduled services, including routes to Tangier.
According to Spain’s National Meteorological Agency (Aemet), rainfall is expected in the Strait area on Thursday until 6:00 p.m., though no official weather alert has been issued.
Conditions are forecast to deteriorate on Friday, with rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strengthening westerly winds, with gusts that could reach up to 40 km/h.
