At least three complaints have been lodged with the French judiciary by Rhône prefect Fabienne Buccio, following controversial remarks made during a march in Lyon this weekend to honor Quentin Deranque.

As reported by BFMTV, the legal action addresses slogans such as «down with the Arabs», «dirty Arabs», and «dirty race», along with Nazi salutes, all captured in videos from the event. The march drew 3,200 participants according to the prefecture, though organizers claim 3,500.

The demonstration attracted several far-right and ultra-right activists, some of whom were partially masked and performed Nazi salutes. On the social media platform X, the prefect of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region emphasized that «all offensive gestures and statements identified on social networks» would be «reported to the public prosecutor».

Additionally, one protester was arrested for carrying weapons, specifically a knife and a hammer. The march was also marked by other nationalist chants, including «we will take back this country» and «this is our home».

Among the slogans chanted was «Europe, youth, revolution» from the Groupe Union Défense (GUD), a group that was dissolved in 2024. The demonstration began with a tribute to Quentin Deranque, who was assaulted on February 12 and succumbed to his injuries two days later. Some implicated in the attack are reportedly linked to antifascist groups.

A floral wreath was laid at the scene of the confrontation, accompanied by a banner featuring a chi-rho, a Christian symbol often associated with the far-right.
