The Consulate General of Morocco in Paris recently hosted an exhibition honoring Moroccan soldiers who fought in the First and Second World Wars. The initiative aims to pay tribute to their sacrifice and highlight their decisive role in defending the values of freedom and peace.
Organized in partnership with the association Mémoire France-Maroc, the exhibition sheds light on the significant contributions of Moroccan troops in these global conflicts. Thousands were deployed to various fronts, taking part in key chapters of 20th-century European history.
Visitors were able to discover archival photographs, historical documents, some displayed publicly for the first time, and personal testimonies retracing the military and personal journeys of these soldiers. The collection offers deeper insight into the conditions of their service and the broader political and military context of the time.
Beyond commemorating their bravery, the event also underscores the shared history between Morocco and France. The sacrifices of these fighters helped forge lasting human ties between the two nations, grounded in mutual recognition and respect for their wartime commitment.
The exhibition was presented during the consulate’s monthly open house, held on the last Saturday of each month, and attracted strong interest from members of the Moroccan community in France, as well as historians and researchers specializing in Franco-Moroccan relations.
