The National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA) has announced the withdrawal of several batches of infant formula from the market following an international alert indicating the possible presence of cereulide, a toxin produced by the bacteria Bacillus cereus, in these products.

In a statement, the agency said the importing company had been instructed to immediately remove the affected batches in line with the international notification. Some of the products have already been seized and secured in the importer’s warehouses.

ONSSA added that the recall and return operations are ongoing and will continue until all affected batches have been removed from the market. The agency confirmed that all infant formula covered by the alert will be destroyed.

The office noted that the batch number is printed on the outside or bottom of the container and consists of eight digits beginning with 2026 or 2027.

As a precaution, ONSSA has urged parents not to use infant formula from the batches concerned until the recall process has been fully completed.
