The U.S. President's Special Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, engaged in a phone conversation on Saturday with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
According to a statement from the Algerian presidency, the two leaders «discussed Algerian-American relations and reviewed the latest global developments and changes». As of now, Massad Boulos has not provided any comments on this exchange.
It's important to note that President Trump's son-in-law visited Algiers in late January to persuade President Tebboune to join the initial round of discussions on Western Sahara. His mission proved successful, as Algeria participated in the talks held on February 8 and 9 at the U.S. Embassy in Madrid, followed by another round on February 23 and 24 in Washington.
The Western Sahara issue was also a topic of discussion during a phone call on March 15 between French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot and his Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf.
