Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, March 24, the trial of French national Laura Prioul, who accuses Moroccan artist Saad Lamjarred of rape, will begin. This development comes after Prioul herself was charged with attempting to extort the singer.
Laura, aged 30, is set to appear before the Paris criminal court until Thursday, facing charges of extortion. According to French media reports citing judicial sources, she allegedly demanded through Lamjarred's manager a sum of three million euros to drop her accusations or refrain from appearing in court.
Saad Lamjarred lodged a complaint regarding this matter, with the alleged extortion attempts occurring between October 2024 and June 2025, just before the appeal session in the rape case for which he was convicted. This appeal was postponed due to ongoing investigations into the extortion allegations.
Notably, the artist, now 40, was sentenced in 2023 to six years in prison by the Paris criminal court after being found guilty of raping and assaulting Laura B. in 2016 in a hotel room following their encounter at a nightclub.
The extortion case also involves five other individuals, including Prioul's mother, a lawyer, and a social media influencer, all facing charges of attempted extortion and forming a criminal gang.
During the 2023 trial, the complainant testified that she was sexually assaulted, while Saad Lamjarred denied any sexual relations, admitting only to pushing her after she scratched him during an exchange of kisses.
In a related case, the artist is expected to appear before the criminal court in the Var region, in the city of Draguignan, from May 11 to 15, regarding another rape accusation from 2018 near Saint-Tropez, which he also denies.
