Morocco is positioning digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) as key pillars of sovereignty, economic competitiveness, and territorial inclusion, Minister Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni said during a lecture at Princeton University in New Jersey.

Speaking at the 4th edition of the «Africa Impact Lectures», she stressed that AI is a strategic lever for sustainable development and improved public services in Africa, warning that without strong strategies, the continent risks remaining a data provider rather than a driver of innovation.

Seghrouchni highlighted Morocco’s initiatives, including the Morocco Digital for Sustainable Development Hub, launched with the UNDP, and the Rabat High-Level Forum on AI in partnership with UNESCO. Backed by the «AI Made in Morocco» program, the kingdom aims to build an exportable ecosystem combining infrastructure, talent, innovation, and regulation.

She also emphasized the need for stronger South-South and multilateral cooperation to reduce technological dependence and boost local value creation, as Morocco seeks to position itself as a continental hub for sovereign and inclusive AI.
