In response to ongoing debate over daylight saving time and its impact on daily life, Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni told the House of Representatives that the measure was not introduced in isolation, but as part of a broader set of steps aimed at mitigating its effects.

«The government has worked to adapt working hours within public administrations through a flexible approach that takes into account the specificities of public services and ensures continuity under appropriate conditions», she said.

According to the minister, school schedules have also been adjusted to reflect regional differences, particularly between urban and rural areas.

Seghrouchni stressed that the issue is managed through ongoing coordination between the various government sectors involved, with the aim of ensuring consistency in decisions and their effective implementation. She added that the government follows an institutional approach that respects the responsibilities of each sector.

She also noted that determining the country’s legal time does not fall under a single authority, but is governed by clear legal and regulatory provisions. As such, it is not a temporary administrative decision but one framed by law. The evaluation of its impact, she added, is conducted through a comprehensive approach that takes into account economic considerations as well as citizens’ expectations.

The minister acknowledged the sensitivity of the issue, noting that it directly affects the daily lives of Moroccan families, from work and schooling to social activities. This, she said, requires the involvement of all stakeholders and a participatory approach.

She concluded by affirming that the government will continue to manage the issue within the framework of the law and institutional processes, prioritizing the public interest and ensuring consistency and stability in public policy decisions.
