Following a series of technical sea trials, the Moroccan Royal Navy's Avante 1800-class patrol vessel, built by the Spanish state-owned company Navantia, has returned to the Cadiz shipyard. This development was reported on the platform X, which also shared images of the ship. The same source reveals that the vessel has been christened «Moulay El Hassan I».
Navantia initially announced the launch of this patrol vessel in May 2025, with its delivery to the Moroccan Royal Navy anticipated within the year. The construction process officially kicked off in July 2023 with the cutting of the first steel plate, followed by the keel laying in September 2024 at the San Fernando site in Cadiz.
Spanning 87 meters in length and 13 meters in width, the Avante 1800 is designed to house a crew of approximately 60 personnel. With an estimated total cost of 130 million euros, this program marks the largest order ever placed by Morocco with the Spanish military industry.
