The city of Kelâat M’Gouna (Tinghir province) hosted the Rose Trail on Sunday, offering participants an immersive run through the lush landscapes of the Dadès Valley.
More than 500 runners from across Morocco took part in the 5-kilometer race, which combines athletic performance with a tourist and cultural experience.
In the men’s category, Mustapha Achetou (Azilal) won with a time of 14 minutes and 2 seconds, ahead of Abdelkrim Meftah (Tinghir) in 14:06 and Hafid Zerki (Agdez) in 14:07.
In the women’s race, Hanane Qallouj (Khénifra) finished first in 15:38, followed by Keltoum Bouaassria (Rabat) in 15:48 and Fatiha Asmid (Essaouira) in 16:02.
The event was held as a prelude to the 61st International Rose Festival, scheduled from May 7 to 10 in Kelâat M’Gouna.
Organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, in coordination with the Tinghir province and in partnership with various local, regional, and international stakeholders, the festival will take place under the theme «The Perfume Rose Sector at the Heart of Integrated Development in Oasis Areas».
