Morocco’s imports of mangoes and guavas reached a record high for the fifth consecutive year in 2025, totaling 21,900 tons worth $16.5 million, according to EastFruit.
The figure marks a 40% increase compared to 2024 and nearly triple the volumes imported five years ago, with average annual growth estimated at 23%.
As domestic production of tropical fruits remains limited and largely experimental, imports continue to dominate the market. While Mali has traditionally been Morocco’s main supplier, delays in its 2025 season redirected demand toward Burkina Faso and Peru during the spring, while Spain significantly increased its shipments in the second half of the year.
Senegal ended the year as Morocco’s top supplier with a 21% market share, followed by Spain (18%) and Burkina Faso (15%). Mali dropped to fourth place after reducing shipments by nearly 25%, accounting for 12% of imports.
Peru also expanded its exports to Morocco by 4.5 times, while Côte d’Ivoire increased shipments by 25%. In contrast, imports from Egypt and Brazil declined by nearly half.
