On Wednesday, Morocco’s National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM) discussed energy cooperation, critical minerals, and the Africa-Atlantic Gas Pipeline project linking Morocco and Nigeria during meetings held at the White House in Washington.
The first meeting brought together ONHYM Director General Amina Benkhadra, Morocco’s ambassador to the United States Youssef Amrani, and Acting U.S. Assistant Secretary of Energy Tommy Joyce.
«Pleased to note genuine U.S. interest in the Africa-Atlantic Gas Pipeline and critical minerals, real opportunities for energy security and regional development», the diplomat wrote on X.
A second meeting was also held with David Copley, Senior Director for Global Supply Chains at the National Security Council (NSC), to discuss cooperation on critical minerals and advancing Morocco’s mining agenda with American partners.
