The Moroccan national boys' tennis team emerged victorious at the Under-14 African Tennis Championship on Saturday in Cairo.
In a commanding performance, the Moroccan squad defeated Egypt in the final with an impressive 3-0 scoreline. The team, representing Morocco in this prestigious tournament, comprised Soulaiman Jamji, Reda Dahmani, and Adam Smihi.
Zakaria Zemrani, head of the Moroccan delegation and a member of the executive board of the Royal Moroccan Tennis Federation, expressed immense pride in the young players' achievements during the African competition.
Speaking to MAP after the closing ceremony and prize distribution, Mr. Zemrani remarked on the boys' team's remarkable journey, highlighted by victories against all their rivals and culminating in the African title with their triumph over Egypt.
Regarding the girls' team, Zemrani noted their commendable performance, finishing as runners-up to Egypt, the African champions. By reaching the final, the national team secured their qualification for the World Team Championship, set to be held in the Czech Republic next August.
In the boys' category, the competition featured seven teams: Morocco, South Africa, Cameroon, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, and Kenya.
The top two teams from each boys' and girls' category earn a spot in the Under-14 World Team Championship, scheduled for next summer in the Czech Republic.
