The 2026 baccalaureate exams will see the implementation of a cutting-edge digital system designed to improve oversight and minimize management errors, announced Mohamed Saad Berrada, the Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, on Monday at the House of Representatives.
In response to questions about the organizational preparations for the baccalaureate exams, the minister highlighted that this initiative comes as a response to the large number of candidates, estimated at 520,000. He pointed out that managing exams for such a vast cohort «cannot be executed without risking errors or omissions unless digitalization is employed».
The minister detailed that this year, the ministry will introduce a new digital approach, assigning each candidate a unique identifier and a QR code to monitor every stage of the exam and grading process «from start to finish». In the effort to combat cheating, he revealed that high schools will be equipped with 2,000 new electronic devices (one per institution) to detect active mobile phones in exam rooms.
He acknowledged the evolving nature of cheating tactics, particularly with the use of smartphones, miniature earpieces, and artificial intelligence tools, which now present a significant challenge that «raises questions about equal opportunities». The minister also confirmed that the regular session of the baccalaureate exams is scheduled for June 4, 5, and 6, with results to be announced on the 17th of the same month.
A total of 2,007 institutions will host the exams, utilizing around 26,000 rooms and nearly 150,000 administrative and teaching staff. Moreover, the number of independent candidates is 100,000, a decrease of 8%, compared to 420,000 enrolled candidates, which marks an increase of 10.7%.
