The far-right Vox party has chosen the Moroccan consulate in Algeciras as the site of a new electoral event aimed at promoting its anti-immigration rhetoric and the concept of «national priority».

On Wednesday, Manuel Gavira, the party’s candidate for the presidency of the Andalusian government, is expected to appear in front of the Moroccan consulate located on Paseo del Río de la Miel. The area is frequented daily by members of the Moroccan community and lies close to neighborhoods with some of the city’s highest concentrations of residents of foreign origin.

The party has invited the media to cover the event, which comes as the Moroccan consulate is experiencing a significant influx of visitors amid Spain’s ongoing migrant regularization process.

Throughout its electoral campaign, Vox has continued to promote the concept of «national priority», advocating preferential access for Spaniards over foreigners to public services and resources. The party argues that citizens who contribute to funding the system should be its primary beneficiaries, a position that has drawn criticism from rival political parties.

In recent months, Vox has also intensified its rhetoric against what it describes as the «Islamic colonization» of the city, referring to the growing presence of the Muslim community in Algeciras.
