Police in the Sidi Bernoussi district of Casablanca seized 692,000 units of smuggled medicines and pharmaceutical products on Wednesday and arrested four people suspected of involvement in the possession and distribution of products posing a threat to public health.

The suspects were allegedly caught in the act of possessing and selling smuggled pharmaceutical products used for weight gain. Searches carried out during the operation led to the seizure of large quantities of tablets and medical ointments, totaling 692,000 units.

Investigators also seized two vehicles suspected of being used to facilitate the trafficking operation, along with sums of money in Moroccan and European currencies believed to be proceeds from the sale of the products.

Three of the suspects were placed in police custody, while the fourth was released under judicial supervision pending further investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. Authorities are continuing inquiries to determine the full circumstances of the case and identify any potential wider criminal network linked to the activity.
