Rabat: Syria affirms Morocco’s territorial integrity over the Sahara

Syria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani, affirmed Syria’s full respect for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over all of its territory. The official was received on Thursday by his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita.

In a joint statement adopted on the occasion of this official working visit, Al-Shaibani also expressed Syria’s support for UN Security Council Resolution 2797, which «marks a turning point in the search for a lasting political solution to this regional dispute», said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates.

Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani’s presence in Morocco marks the first official visit by Syria’s top diplomat to the kingdom. Accompanied by a delegation, he aims to «give strong new momentum» to bilateral relations.
