Judicial investigation opened after deadly building collapse in Fez

The King’s Prosecutor General at the Fez Court of Appeal has announced the opening of a judicial investigation following the collapse of a residential building on Thursday morning in Fez, which left, according to a provisional toll, nine people dead and several others injured to varying degrees.

In a statement, the Prosecutor General said the investigation aims to determine all the causes and circumstances surrounding the tragedy, as well as to establish any possible responsibilities of the various parties concerned.

Emphasizing the need to protect citizens’ lives, the Public Prosecutor’s Office affirmed its determination to ensure the strict application of the law and to act firmly against anyone found responsible in connection with the tragedy. Appropriate legal proceedings will be initiated once the investigation has been completed.
