COSUMAR has been awarded the «Made in Morocco» certification by the Moroccan Institute for Standardization, recognizing nearly a century of industrial and agricultural activity since the group’s founding in 1929.
In a statement, COSUMAR said the distinction recognizes an integrated model rooted in local communities and driven by the women and men contributing to the development of a national sugar industry that creates value.
The certification also reflects the group’s commitment to food sovereignty, the competitiveness of national industry, and the international reach of Moroccan products. Based on a rigorous framework, it confirms both the Moroccan origin of the products and their compliance with applicable quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
According to the group, the label guarantees that products are manufactured under controlled conditions across the entire value chain, in line with principles of compliance, traceability, and evidence-based verification.
Through its agricultural, industrial, logistics, commercial, and export activities, COSUMAR relies on an ecosystem bringing together more than 80,000 partner farmers, 1,300 employees, and a wide range of expertise covering the full value chain, from upstream farming to industrial processing, packaging, and export.
The group operates an industrial network comprising seven sugar plants and two refineries across Morocco, with a total production capacity of 2.5 million tonnes per year.
In 2025, COSUMAR reached a record production level of more than 2 million tonnes of white sugar, including 1.2 million tonnes destined for the domestic market and 851,000 tonnes exported to more than 90 countries.
Since 2013, the company has exported more than 6 million tonnes of white sugar outside the subsidy system, highlighting what it described as the operational performance and international competitiveness of Morocco’s sugar industry.
