The draw for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2026, held on Thursday in Zurich, placed the Moroccan national team in Group A alongside New Zealand, Germany and Argentina.

Hosting the tournament for the second consecutive year, Morocco will be looking to get past the first round against a Germany side returning after missing the last two editions, and an Argentina team set to make its first-ever appearance at the U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Defending champions DPR Korea were drawn in Group B with Puerto Rico, Poland and an African representative still to be determined. Among the standout fixtures in the opening round are Canada against Brazil in Group C, France against Japan in Group D, and a clash between the United States and China in Group E — a rematch of last year’s thrilling encounter, won 5-2 by the Americans. Group F will notably feature Spain against Mexico.

This 10th edition of the U-17 Women’s World Cup, which will bring together 24 teams for the second time in a row, will be played entirely in Rabat. The four African qualifiers, in addition to Morocco, will be determined in July. The tournament will also mark historic debuts for Argentina and Puerto Rico at a U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The six groups are as follows:

Group A: Morocco, New Zealand, Germany, Argentina;

Group B: DPR Korea, Puerto Rico, Poland, CAF 1;

Group C: Canada, Brazil, Norway, CAF 2;

Group D: Japan, CAF 3, France, Venezuela;

Group E: United States, Samoa, CAF 4, China;

Group F: Spain, Mexico, Australia, Chile.
