Heatwave to hit Morocco through Wednesday, temperatures reaching 45°C

Several Moroccan provinces are set to experience a heatwave and unusually hot weather from Sunday through Wednesday, according to an orange-level alert issued by Direction générale de la météorologie.

Temperatures between 42°C and 45°C are expected in the southern provinces of Es-Semara, Assa-Zag, Boujdour, Oued Eddahab, Aousserd, Tarfaya, Tan-Tan and Laâyoune.

Other provinces, including Marrakech, Fès, Meknès, Beni Mellal, Kenitra, Taroudant, Tata, Safi and Essaouira, are expected to record temperatures ranging from 37°C to 42°C over the same period.

Meanwhile, Agadir-Ida Outanane, Chtouka-Ait Baha, Inezgane-Ait Melloul, Tiznit, Rabat, Salé and Skhirate-Témara will see temperatures between 38°C and 41°C from Sunday to Tuesday.

The DGM also forecast temperatures ranging from 34°C to 38°C in Sidi Ifni, Casablanca, Mediouna, Mohammedia and El Jadida during the same period.
