Ayyoub Bouaddi made his first public remarks this weekend after being called up to the Morocco national football team. Speaking from the Atlas Lions’ training camp at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora ahead of the 2026 World Cup, the midfielder described joining the national team as «a relief».

«I am very proud and very happy to return to my country, Morocco. I hope we will achieve great things in the competitions to come», he said.

«Everyone knows the quality of this team; there are some very great players», added Bouaddi, the former captain of France’s under-21 side. After ultimately choosing to represent the country of his roots, the 18-year-old LOSC Lille midfielder thanked the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Moroccan supporters and his family. The welcome he received, he said, was «heartwarming» and «incredible».

«When I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. The facilities are world-class. I don’t think there are many better in the world», Bouaddi added, while also praising the atmosphere and unity within the squad.
