Moroccan man dies after diving into Trebbia River in Italy

A 41-year-old Moroccan man died on Sunday after diving into the Trebbia River in the province of Piacenza in northern Italy.

According to Italian media, the victim went into the water from a riverside beach area at around 2 p.m. but never resurfaced. Friends immediately raised the alarm, triggering a major rescue operation involving firefighters, mountain rescue teams and emergency medical services, including helicopters.

Fire brigade divers later recovered the man’s body after it had been swept around 100 meters downstream and trapped beneath a rock in the riverbed.
