Hot weather up to 44°C and thunderstorms forecast in Morocco through Friday

Hot weather and local thunderstorms with a risk of hail are expected across several Moroccan provinces from Thursday to Friday, according to an orange-level alert issued by Direction générale de la météorologie.

Temperatures ranging between 39°C and 44°C are forecast from Thursday to Friday in the provinces of Es-Semara, Assa-Zag, Boujdour, Oued Ed-Dahab, Aousserd and Tata.

The DGM also warned of local thunderstorms bringing 25 to 30 mm of rainfall, along with a risk of hail, on Thursday from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the provinces of Ifrane, Midelt, Boulemane, El Hajeb and Khénifra.
